Midwest Eye Care was founded in 1951 by Dr. Jack Filkins, and was the first Nebraska ophthalmology practice to perform intraocular lens implant surgery, perform corneal transplant surgery, research, and use the excimer laser now utilized in LASIK surgery and offer direct-care contact lens services. Midwest Eye Care has ten ophthalmologists and seven optometrists on staff at five metropolitan locations.
Midwest Eye Care has a long tradition of excellence and community service. In May 2004, Midwest Eye Care became the first Nebraska health care provider to receive a coveted Integrity Award for Service Excellence from the Heartland Better Business Bureau for our commitment to business ethics and community service. We received a second Integrity Award in September 2008, a third in October of 2012, and a silver Award of Distinction in 2016. In addition, we received a Corporate Citizen Award in 2003 from Prevent Blindness Nebraska for support in fighting blindness.
- Provide the highest quality routine, medical and surgical vision care in the Midwest;
- Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and humor in dealing with our patients;
- Provide information regarding new medical developments to our patients as quickly as possible;
- To attract and retain high-quality staff members who appreciate and reflect how important eyesight is to each of our patients.
As a leader in the development of the excimer laser and LASIK surgery, our practice is committed to providing patients with reasonable, conservative opinions on LASIK and other refractive surgeries. Each year we advise over 40% of interested patients that they would be poor candidates for LASIK. Because Midwest Eye Care intends to treat a patient’s eye care needs over a lifetime, whatever the specialty, we are uniquely oriented towards the patient’s long-term eye health.
We take pride in providing you a positive customer service experience and quality doctors. So whether you are with us for a short time or for decades, our focus is on you.
