Dr. Dickinson is a comprehensive optometrist who specializes in routine and problem-focused eye examinations, pediatric eye care, urgent eye care, and pre- and post-operative examinations.
Dr. Dickinson is a native of northwestern Iowa, and she received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa. During her undergraduate years at Iowa, Dr. Dickinson worked as a laboratory assistant in the Molecular Ophthalmology Laboratory, assisting in the genetic research of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt’s Disease.
Dr. Dickinson earned her doctor of optometry degree from Indiana University and was honored as the top-ranked student in her graduating class. Through the Indiana optometric program, Dr. Dickinson completed externships at Ehrling Bergquest Hospital in Bellevue and the prestigious Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. After completing optometry school, Dr. Dickinson spent an additional year completing a residency in ocular disease and low vision at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Dr. Dickinson joined Midwest Eye Care in July 2005.
Dr. Dickinson is licensed for the practice of optometry by the state examining boards of Iowa and Nebraska. She is a member of the Iowa Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Dickinson provides charity care through the Hope Medical Outreach Coalition and Mission Cataract. She also made four medical mission trips to Mexico and Honduras during optometry school.
