eye surgery

Ten of Midwest Eye Care’s ophthalmologists perform eye surgery, and eight of the ten underwent subspecialty fellowship training after the completion of medical school and a four-year residency in internal medicine and ophthalmology.

If you need eye surgery or are in search of a second opinion, please contact our office at 402.552.2020 or 800.231.2020 to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist. Our call center operators can help you determine which surgeon would be the best doctor for you to see, based on your condition, appointment window, and closest location.

Our office has prepared a brochure (click here) to help you prepare for surgery day. Most surgery patients will need to obtain a ‘history and physical’ from their primary care doctor before surgery to verify that they are healthy enough to undergo surgery. The brochure details the things you should expect to experience and do both prior to and after surgery. Although the brochure focuses on surgery at Midwest Eye Surgery Center, the guidelines apply to all the facilities where our surgeons perform surgery.

Our surgeons perform surgery at the following metropolitan facilities:

Midwest Eye Surgery Center

CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital

CHI Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs

Children’s Hospital and Medical Center

Nebraska Medical Center

Nebraska Methodist Hospital

Omaha Surgical Center

If you are from outside the Omaha metro area but need a hotel room the night before or after surgery, please call our surgery schedulers at 800-231-2020 for a list of hotels. Several local hotels provide discounted rates to surgical patients.

A large portion of our practice is devoted to delivering specialized ophthalmology care to rural patients in their own communities. Our surgeons operate at community hospitals in Iowa and Nebraska, and in total provide outreach services to eleven communities outside the metropolitan area. In most communities, we partner with the local optometrists, ophthalmologists or family physicians to share in the management of a patient’s vision care. These outreach services are provided as a convenience to our patients but also allow Midwest Eye Care to support the local hospitals, physicians and community at large.

We provide surgical services at the following community hospitals:

Cass County Hospital, Atlantic, IA

Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, IA

Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, IA

Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Shenandoah, IA
