We are pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Appenzeller, an ophthalmologist specializing in diabetic and retina disease and surgery, is joining our practice on July 20, 2015.
Dr. Appenzeller is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and he graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina. He performed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati and his vitreo-retinal surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. He has practiced in Alamance, North Carolina since 2009, and he is delighted to be moving his young family to Omaha. In addition to seeing patients at the 4353 Dodge and 13500 California locations in Omaha, he will also hold outreach clinics in Clarinda and Shenandoah.
With Dr. Appenzeller’s addition, Midwest Eye Care now has three retina surgeons on staff, along with nine other board-certified ophthalmologists and seven optometrists. We offer fellowship-trained subspecialists for retina, glaucoma and corneal disease and surgery.
