Dr. Mercer achieves board certification

Dr. Rachel Mercer has been notified that she has passed the board certification test administered by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).  ABO board certification is a two-step process, with ophthalmologists first required to pass a written test before advancing to an oral exam administered by some of the most accomplished members of the profession.

Dr. Mercer joined Midwest Eye Care in September 2016 and is one of twelve board-certified ophthalmologists at Midwest Eye Care.  She received her undergraduate and medical school degrees from Texas Tech University.  She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic School in Rochester (MN) and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the highly-ranked University of Iowa eye department.  She works primarily at Midwest Eye Care’s offices at 715 Harmony (Council Bluffs) and 13500 California (Omaha).  She performs general ophthalmology services, neuro-ophthalmology evaluations, and cataract and eyelid surgery.
