Midwest Eye Care

Frequently Asked Questions

1.      Where do I call if I am late, sick or have an emergency?

Call 552-2820 (clinical manager).   She has voice mail, so leave a message if she does not answer. Please call as soon as you know that you will not be in so that she can let the appropriate manager know in time to get coverage.

2.      When is payday and where do I get my check?

You will be paid every two weeks on a Thursday.  At 4353 the checks are put out around 10:00am at the Call Center. At all other offices, the supervisor will pass out the check.

3.      Is the office ever closed to bad weather?

Rarely. Since we are here to serve patients, it is important for our office to be open except in the most dangerous conditions. If there is bad weather, you will be able to call a recorded message at 552-2820 to see whether you should report to work.

10.  What could jeopardize my career at Midwest Eye Care?

Mistakes are a natural part of learning a new job. However, the following things should be avoided: (a) Absenteeism – people do get sick but repeated absences in the first 90 days indicates that you may not be a reliable employee; (b) Dishonesty – admit your mistakes and always tell the truth; and (c) Giving less than your full effort – because your long-term potential is evaluated based on your short-term performance.

11.  I’m frustrated about my new job. What should I do?

The first and most direct step is to have an honest and frank conversation with your supervisor. If the job responsibilities are different than you expected, if you are having trouble adapting to your new job, or for any other work-related issue, your supervisor is the one person who can fully understand your dilemma.

12.  Another job in the office is vacant and I think I would rather work there. Can I apply for it?

If you are still within your first 90 days of employment and are not fully trained in your original position, it is unlikely that you will be allowed to interview for a new position. We use the first 90- days to evaluate your job skills, and if you are never in a position to start performing a task independently, it is impossible for us to know if your can learn new skills. Once you have proven that you are a capable employee,  you are welcome to bid for another position.
