Ophthalmic technical assistant – Midwest Eye Care is searching for cheerful, motivated individuals to assist our ophthalmologists and optometrists in their clinics. Technicians work at our three metropolitan offices and may occasionally travel with the doctor team to outlying rural clinics. Hours are generally 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, with one Saturday commitment each month from 8:00 to 12:00. Previous experience is preferred but not required. All job offers are conditioned upon the satisfactory results of a background check and urine-based drug, alcohol and nicotine testing.  An applicant who has received a conditional job offer cannot begin working at MEC until the results from the background check and lab tests are reviewed and approved.  There is no application deadline for this position.

Clinic RN/LPN-C – Midwest Eye Care is a large, fast-paced ophthalmology clinic searching for cheerful, motivated RN/LPN-C’s interested in a challenging career assisting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in their clinics.   Previous experience with injections is preferred but not required.  LPN-C’s will need to be certified for venipuncture.  Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude and strong work ethic required.  Full-time with some travel required, and one Saturday morning commitment per month.  All holidays off and no on-call requirements.  All job offers are conditioned upon the satisfactory results of a background check and urine-based drug, alcohol and nicotine testing.  An applicant who has received a conditional job offer cannot begin working at MEC until the results from the background check and lab tests are reviewed and approved.

Registered Nurse (Surgery – FT) – Midwest Eye Surgery Center is searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in the PACU/OR. Experience in ophthalmology is a plus, but is not required. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of nursing care while supporting the concepts of patient-centered care in an efficient and timely manner. An ideal applicant will establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other Midwest Eye Surgery Center personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information. Purchasing Agent/Buyer– This position has been filled.

Call Center Operator – Midwest Eye Care has one open call center operator position.  Technical skills with multi-line phone system are preferred but not required. The call center department is responsible for receiving the majority of incoming phone calls to Midwest Eye Care.  The operator is responsible for identifying the purpose of the phone call and then distributing it as necessary.  The call center operators also schedule appointments for callers.  The position includes long periods of sitting, significant computer use with Windows-based software, and continuous contact with the public.  This position is based at our busy office at 4353 Dodge Street in Omaha.  The successful candidate should have strong experience in customer service and using Windows-based computer programs.  Medication aide certification would be helpful but is not required.  Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly is a must; optical knowledge is not required.  The hours for the position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional meetings starting prior to 8:00 a.m.All job offers are conditioned upon the satisfactory results of a background check and urine-based drug, alcohol and nicotine testing.  An applicant who has received a conditional job offer cannot begin working at MEC until the results from the background check and lab tests are reviewed and approved.

Insurance specialist – This position is primarily focused on contacting insurance carriers for payment of insurance claims.  The primary tasks include appealing denials, checking status of claims and eligibility on websites, as well as calling insurance carriers to facilitate payment.  The position also shares responsibility with the other eight patient accounts staff to answer billing phone calls and provide back-up for insurance counseling for surgical patients.  This position is based at 13500 California Street.  The hours are typically 8:00 to 5:00 but may vary slightly based on departmental needs.  The successful applicant would ideally have experience in a patient accounts or a health insurance position; understanding how health insurance works is a key to doing well in this position.  The successful applicant must be adept at using a mouse and Windows-based software, and prior experience in a medical or customer service role is preferred.  All job offers are conditioned upon the satisfactory results of a background check and urine-based drug, alcohol and nicotine testing.  An applicant who has received a conditional job offer cannot begin working at MEC until the results from the background check and lab tests are reviewed and approved.

Patient Registrar (MESC) As a patient registrar at Midwest Eye Surgery Center (MESC) the employee will perform clerical/receptionist duties that include but are not limited to; answering the phone, receiving, greeting, and providing direction for patients, families and visitors, coordinating communication between Midwest Eye Care and MESC, notifying staff and families of procedural delays, compiling monthly reports and statistical data as requested, and assisting with medical record preparation and maintenance. The applicant will also schedule surgical procedures on an as needed basis utilizing a computerized scheduling system. The position is part-time, two days per week, 10 hour days.  The successful applicant must have; good customer service skills, a professional image, moderate computer experience, clerical/receptionist experience (preferred), high school diploma, be familiar with medical terminology (preferred) and have a basic knowledge  copy and fax machines.  All job offers are conditioned upon satisfactory results of a background and credit check and urine-based drug, alcohol and nicotine testing.  An applicant who has received a conditional job offer cannot begin working at MEC until the results from the background and credit check and lab tests are reviewed and approved.
