Midwest Eye CareTM is one of the fastest growing medical practices in the Midwest, increasing from just over 50 employees in 1994 to over 160 first-class employees in 2017. The practice is owned by the doctors who work here, and they are committed to setting the pace in areas of clinical quality, customer service and computer technology.
Several things should jump out at you during your first few weeks at Midwest Eye Care. First, you’ll notice that most of the managers have been at MEC, and all but one have been promoted from within to their current position. Because of this, your manager knows the ropes, and they make decisions that are in the best long-term interest of you and MEC. Second, computers are everywhere; we’ve utilized electronic medical records since 1995, and 90% of the patients we see in the metro area don’t have any type of paper chart. If you whiz around on the computer, that will make your job that much easier. Finally, we like to have fun. Whether it’s through practical jokes, weight loss competitions or just creative ways to teach employees about customer service, we think it’s important to keep the workplace positive.
Midwest Eye Care offers a wide range of benefits (click here to review them), including a 401(k) plan, paid health insurance, a profit sharing plan and uniform allowances. Because of our size, we’re able to offer reasonable and flexible hours, multiple work locations and great opportunities for advancement and professional growth.
If you are looking for a career change, we’d love to hear from you. We are always looking for individuals who are quick learners, are focused on customer service, like working with both patients and computers, and have an abundance of energy. Heck, we’ll even teach you how to do a specific job, but it is absolutely essential that you (a) like working with people, (b) understand how important it is to provide great service to our patients and (c) aren’t intimidated by a computer.
Our managers and doctors work together to establish the direction and momentum of our company. While we don’t tolerate slackers or perpetual malcontents, we have found that great employees enjoy working in an environment where everyone is treated fairly and good performers are recognized as such. We work hard, we have fun, and we take great care of our patients.
We try to provide employees with as much autonomy as we can while ensuring that our basic procedures are followed. The average tenure of our employees is over eight years, and our turnover rate is consistently under 15% — a practically unheard of rate in the healthcare industry in the past five years. If you’re a good fit for our practice, we’d have to have you join us, as long as you’re willing to hang around for five, ten or twenty years.
