Costs

As of August 27, 2009, Midwest Eye Care charges the following prices, per eye, for refractive surgery:

IntraLase LASIK $2,295
Optimize Wavelight PRK $1,995
Corneal rings  $2,495
Crystalens lens $3,850
ReSTOR lens $3,850

The Crystalens and ReSTOR lens may be used in traditional cataract surgery.  If cataract surgery is medically indicated, consistent with Medicare or insurance company guidelines, then a patient’s insurance plan may cover the cost of traditional cataract surgery, leaving the patient to pay only for the cost of the upgraded lens, which is approximately $1,750 per eye.  If the surgeon determines you are a candidate for either of these lenses, our surgery counselor can determine your out-of-pocket cost for the procedure.

Refractive surgery is rarely covered by insurance.  If you believe you have coverage, our surgery counselor will contact the insurance company to verify the terms of coverage.

Because refractive surgery is typically an elective procedure not covered by an insurance plan, pre-payment is required seven days before the scheduled procedure date.  Midwest Eye Care accepts cash, check and credit cards.  In addition, we offer ‘twelve-months-same-as-cash’ and longer-term interest bearing financing through Chase Health Advance, arm of of Chase Bank.  The long-term rates vary by credit history.  Our surgery counselor will assist you in investigating financing options.
