Education / Library

One of the foundations of the recent movement towards health care 'wellness' programs is that well-informed patients will make better treatment and lifestyle decisions that will lead to improved health. The Midwest Eye CareTM doctors also believe that patients who are well educated in eye disease and disease prevention will have a better chance of maintaining good vision. Consequently, we have created an on-line resource of eye care topics for your review. By clicking on the tabs on the left side of this page, you can explore the subtopics of each major eye care area.

In addition to our website, the Internet offers many excellent resources for eye and general medical information. We encourage our patients to contact us if they find information that generates new questions about their care.

If you have any suggestions for additional resources to be added to our education page, please e-mail us at jslagle@midwesteyecare.com.

If you cannot view the animation box on the Animation Library screen, you need to update your Adobe Flash software.  The Adobe Flash Player must be uninstalled and then reinstalled.

Uninstall directions:

  1. Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:
  2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the .hqx file.

  3. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications are still in memory which might possibly use Flash Player.

  4. Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.

Note: The uninstaller cannot remove files currently in use.

If you have any instances of the player open in your web browsers, instant messaging clients, stand-alone SWFs, or projectors, then the uninstaller will complete but some files may not be deleted. If this occurs, then close all of your applications and run the uninstaller again to ensure that all files are removed.

Note: Internet Explorer users may have to reboot to clear all uninstalled Flash Player ActiveX control files. If you're not certain, select the "Show Details" button in the Flash Player uninstaller. If there are any log lines that begin with "Delete on Reboot..." then you'll need to reboot BEFORE running the Flash Player installer again.

To install a fresh version of Flash Player:

Go to : http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Determine which operating system is being used and download that version.

Installation instructions for Windows Internet Explorer

1. Installation of Adobe Flash Player may require administrative access to your PC, which is normally provided by your IT department. It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.

2. Click the download link to automatically download and install Adobe Flash Player into Microsoft Internet Explorer.

3. Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click Install to install the ActiveX control.

4. When the installation is complete, you will see the Adobe Flash Player logo and text.
